Emerging Artist in Residence 2021
Lindy Fines is the choreographer and artistic director of GREYZONE, a multimedia dance company that she co-founded with graphic designer Justin Fines. With GREYZONE, Lindy is a 2019 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Choreography from The New York Foundation for the Arts.
Based in NYC, GREYZONE’s productions investigate the interplay between deconstructed ballet and modern dance vocabularies, sound design, time-based media, and visual arts. Collaborations include GREYZONE’s dance film PENUMBRA with fashion designer House of 950 and composer Steve Hauschildt (2018), DRIFT with visual artist Maia Ruth Lee, which was supported by a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant (Performance Mix Festival, 2016), and VEHICLE with illustrator Mike Perry (Wandering Around Wondering, 2012). GREYZONE has performed at Movement Research at the Judson Church (2017), Brooklyn Ballet’s First Look (2017), FLICfest (2014), and The Flea (2014), among others. GREYZONE has been supported with residencies at New Dance Alliance (2015), Socrates Sculpture Park (Norte Maar, 2016), and will be in residence at The Croft Residency in 2020 (MI). GREYZONE's short films have screened at festivals nationally and internationally including the 92nd St Y (NYC) and the Nevada Museum of Art.
Lindy graduated with a BFA in Dance from the University of Oklahoma, and then moved to NYC and trained on scholarship at the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio.
