Contemporary Choreographic Research – Richard Move
Each class will be a laboratory that explores specific improvisational and choreographic tasks with the objective of developing a new, short work by the end of the festival. Each session will build upon the material discovered the day(s) before and structured so that each student will cumulatively make their own, unique solo. The class is based on proven methods used in contemporary, professional processes and is
designed to cultivate essential skills for developing choreographic scores that include improvisation, the creation of site-specific work, and the integration of spoken text in
contemporary dance performance. The workshop culminates with a work in progress sharing of the solos developed in the class set in a variety of locations around the campus.
